A couple of weeks ago we went for a family day out to Shugborough Hall in Staffordshire.
I don’t know about anyone else but to go on a fun family day out these days feels like it costs a fortune! We try our best to go out with the kids every Sunday as it is our only day together all as a family. However when you are saving for a holiday and a house move its difficult to find cheap days out for a family of 5. Once you have paid for entry, parking, fuel and food its easily £100 a time! There is only so many times you can keep visiting the same parks.
I had heard from a couple of friends about joining the national trust. A family membership for 2 adults and up to 10 kids is £114.50 a year or £9.55 a month. That gets you free parking and entry into over 500 national trust sites. I thought it was a no brainer to be honest because it would get us all out more without it costing a fortune a time!
We visited our first place, Shugborough Hall in half term week and it was beautiful. It wasn’t far from our house either. I couldn’t believe how many places there are in our area we can visit, to be honest. There were lots to see and we had a look around the beautiful Georgian mansion. There was a little activity for the children to find cats in each room which they really enjoyed. We had a little stroll around the gardens and played some frisbee, we all had a lovely day out.
I would definitely recommend joining the national trust if you like to get out and about with your family. It’s amazing value! It will be especially great to keep the kids entertained in the summer holidays. This isn’t an advert for the national trust i just really thought it was a great idea!
